Beaverdam Run - HOA
Beaverdam Run is a quaint and quiet community in North Asheville. We were contacted by engineers (Blue Earth Planning and Design - www.blueearth.us) who had performed a storm sewer system assessment for their aging infrastructure. They wanted to proceed with an asphalt resurfacing project and before doing that, they wanted to renovate the 30 year old storm sewer system.
After having the entire storm sewer system inspected by a crawler with a camera, they identified approximately 35 locations where the corrugated metal pipes were blocked, rusted out or otherwise needed attention. The strategy to fix them was a combination of manual point repairs, which we performed, as well as lining some of the disintegrating but open and free-flowing culverts with a PVC liners. The lining process was performed by another contractor (Nu-pipe - www.nupipeus.com).
For each location, we would measure from a known catch basin to locate the repair, then mark utilities and excavate to find the issue, then cut out that section of culvert and replace it with a new, HDPE culvert. Some of these repairs were in forests or lawns, and some were in roads and surrounded by other utilities. We also renovated storm sewer boxes as needed, and installed several, new, long runs of culvert, including a 700’ length of 36” pipe and a 500’ run of 24”.
